Q: Are donations made to the Yale School of Medicine tax-deductible?
A: Gifts to Yale are tax deductible in compliance with IRS guidelines.
Yale University is a tax-exempt organization under Internal Revenue Code § 501(c)(3). Yale is eligible under IRC §§ 170(c), 2055, and 2522 to accept contributions that are tax-deductible by donors for income, estate, and Gift tax purposes.
When donors make gifts to the Yale School of Medicine, they will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

Q: What guidelines do you have in place for fundraisers?
A: Fundraisers that benefit Yale School of Medicine must reflect positively on its mission. Yale School of Medicine reserves the right to decline or cancel any fundraising that is not in line with its mission.
If you are hosting an event to benefit Yale School of Medicine, the event and its promotion must abide by our Third-Party Fundraising Guidelines.

Q: What are Offline Donations?
A: Offline donations are donations that you receive in the form of check. Even though this donation was not made through your digital fundraising page, we can manually add it to your page so that you may better track your fundraising progress.

Q: What happens if I don't reach my fundraising goal?
A: We are happy that you chose to support an important cause at Yale School of Medicine and are grateful for whatever you are able to raise. We encourage you to do everything you can to reach your goal, but you will not be penalized if you do not.
To assist you in reaching your goal, we have created a Fundraising Toolkit, which will provide you with tips and tricks to hit your goals and have a successful digital fundraiser.

Q: If I am participating in an endurance event on my own, does Yale School of Medicine register me for the race and buy my entry?
A: You are welcome to register for any endurance event of your choice, and then create an online fundraising page to promote your endurance event and collect donations to benefit Yale School of Medicine. However, Yale School of Medicine cannot register for you or pay for your entry.

Q: Will Yale School of Medicine cover any of my event/fundraiser-related expenses?
A: Expenses incurred for conducting a fundraising event to benefit Yale School of Medicine are the responsibility of the hosting volunteers and the sponsor of the event. Yale School of Medicine will not be liable for any costs or expenses. Yale School of Medicine will not reimburse sponsor for the purchase of goods for a third-party event. No goods may be charged to Yale School of Medicine for any reason.
